Induction programme held at Nar Bahadur Bhandari Degree College, Tadong for the newly admitted to the college for the 2018-19 academic session. The programme was graced by the Shri R. B..Subba, Honourable Minister Human Resource Development Department, GoS and Additional Chief Secretary Shri. G. P Upadhyaya, IAS.
At The outset in her inaugural speech the Principal of the College, Dr. Bina Pradhan welcomed the new students of the college and apprised them of culture of the college and informed them that they should be proud to join this premier college of the State. She also thanked the Hon’ble Minister and ACS who have been consistently supporting the college in getting all the required infrastructure in the college. She also apprised the students about the facilities in the college and cautioned the students of selectively using Social Media. The Dean of Students Affairs, Dr. Ajay Chettri further apprised the about various programmes and the rules and regulations like examination patterns, attendance and the normal discipline of the college and the University to which the college is affiliated to.
While addressing the students Shri Upadhyaya shared his initial days in his college at IIT, Roorkee some 30years back and the problems that he faced in student years. He invoked the students to change their weakness into an opportunity and use every facilities in the college . He also apprised the students about the opening of the first Government Engineering College at Chisopani in Sikkim on 28th July. He also motivated students not to be gullible and to have a belief in themselves and achieve great heights.
In his address the Hon’ble Minister Shri R B Subba also reminisced his days in college and his teachers. He told the students about how they were stepping into a path of freedom moving out of their houses and protective atmosphere of their schools. He discussed at length with students the idea of liberty and freedom and how they should be responsible in using this liberty. He told them that the flight of life was taking off for them and that they should not return to their homes and villages empty handed. He also became very sentimental about his association with Late Shri N B Bhandari after whom the college has been renamed and who was his teacher at Soreng JHS then.
He also talked of the achievements of the present government in the field of education. He apprised the students regarding the schemes of the Government under HRDD and the giant leaps in that the Government has taken. He wished the students the very best also requested them not to get influenced by any type of disruptive influences in the society but to move out of this college as empowered citizens.
The program was a great initiative of the college in guiding the newly admitted students to the college.
