NSS & NCC initiatives

The college has three units of NSS with trained coordinators. They organize various programmes such as cleanliness drive and tree plantation on a regular basis. Adopting village and looking after their basic amenities is one of the features of NSS uni

NCC initiatives

There are two battalions of NCC, one for girls and the other for boys. The NCC wing of the college is one of the most active components working towards social responsibility. One exemplary role played by the NCC boys was during the massive earthquake.

Red Ribbon Club

RRC of the college has been oragnising activities in the form of painting competitions, blood donation camps, singing and dance competitions to create awareness among the students and public regarding HIV and AIDS.

Cultural activities

The College organizes various Cultural activities annually in the auditorium. Inter College Debate and quiz competition Nepali Poet Competition Bhanu Bhakta Birthday, Teachers’ Day celebration, College Foundation Day celebration etc.

e-waste bin collecting and recycling the e-wastes

Green Circle, an Environmental NGO was invited to sensitize the college community regarding the hazards posed by e-wastes. E- waste in the contemporary society has posed a major health hazard.

SGCians called on Hon’ble Governor of Sikkim, Shri Shriniwas Patil at Ashirvad Hall

A group of 64 students and three Teachers called on Hon’ble Governor of Sikkim, Shri Shriniwas Patil at Ashirvad Hall, Raj Bhavan on 30th September 2014. After the formal exchange of greetings, an interactive session was held.

Zero Waste Campus

29 May 2014: “Zero Waste Clean-up cum Awareness Drive” was organized at the Sikkim Government College, Tadong by the Zero Waste Himalaya Group Sikkim along with Zero Waste Volunteers from the College.

NCC Workshop

Sikkim Govt. College, Tadong NCC unit conducted a workshop today October 18, 2014 on ” Role of NCC in youth empowerment” at SGC Tadong. The Commanding Officer of 3rd NCC batallion shrine L T Sherpa, present at the workshop.

Cleanup Campaign

The Nature Club organized a massive cleanup campaign of the College Campus on 11th of October 2014. The Gangtok Municipal Corporation (GMC) and STNM hospital supported the cleanliness drive by providing dustbins and gloves.
